Do they take reservations?Or is too crowded at noon on a friday??
Good old school food and drink in a really.great vibe.
Unpretentious classic fare done well in an even more classic decor. The service is excellent, straightforward, and also unpretentious, deftly maneuvered by vets who make it look and feel easy The atmosphere rules. Classic NY vibe
MoreFun place. Cheers style. A neighborhood staple
Great steak and service.
I loved this place and can't believe I have not been here before. Classic beyond classic NYC, had a great burger and fries...two orders of fries, a bloody mary and a dirty martini with gin of course. Great bar tender and a load of characters were there, this place is a must.
MoreAWESOME place for drinks at the bar! Not so much for dinner from the menu. They have cheap price for NYC for dinner and you get what you pay for. If your ok with very average food at a cheap NYC price than definitely come here.
MoreA throw back to the eighties. Wonderful Sat brunch with a cocktail!
Prices in the restaurant different than in the site over than 10$.waiter don't pay attention.for questions about food give not clear answers.soup was crazy salt, chicken was not fresh and no salt at all, was broiled on old oil. Parsley was dead. Bread was delicious and water.
MoreThe food is regularly fresh and delightful, cashiers gives good service. I love how neat it is and mood. Will come back again.
MoreFamily run Irish Pub. I have been a customer there since about 1970. The food is great. The turkey dinner is real turkey cooked in their own kitchen. Staff is attentive and fast. Very popular with the after work middle aged crown. Put this on your list.
MoreI was very disappointed. I’m only giving one star because I can’t put zero stars. The steak had absolutely no salt or seasoning. The chop steak was completely raw in the center even after we requested it cooked. Unfortunately the waitress was no help. She offered to bag our food after we told her the food had no flavor.
MoreExcellent food and great atmosphere
Great steak house
Great local hangout!
This place is my preferable place. Of all restaurants I know I favor it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to visit this place. Whenever I I need a decent dinner, this is the place that comes right away to my mind. outstanding and all sorts of food and a rich menu.great staff members, and good ambience. Also important, the cost is affordable. I sent my friends to this spot with no doubt.
MoreTried this spot already with a friend and I am addicted ever since. I enjoy the excellent character and fresh dishes and drinks. Kudos.
MoreTHEIR STEAKS ARE GOOD
Bartender recommended Shepard's Pie; and it was delicious and plentiful. Hot beef open face sandwich was "ok" as per my dining partner. Lowly played oldies was a nice accent. Will definitely return!
MoreFriendly but a little chilly.
Great burger. Great steak. Best atmosphere in NYC.
Great neighborhood classic.....a rare treat in a city where neighborhoods are loosing their identity
MoreThis place is awesome !!! Huge portions, great small restaurant atmosphere... great for lunch or dinner... family owned since 1950... you wont be disappointed... I've eaten there 33+ times
MoreTruly 5 star. Old style steakhouse, great food, prepared and served by professionals. I was there in the early 70s and it's basically the same. Desserts can be split. A for awesome.
MoreFabulous place to have a great time and enjoy the food, not just the steaks but also the soups, 5 stars to the service
MoreLamb chops are outstanding. All food and drinks are top notch. Friendly and efficient staff.
MoreA cozy, old-fashioned Irish bar in the heart of the Upper East Side of Manhattan
A classic NYC institution with a calm old-school vibe, fairly good food, no-nonsense waitresses, and prices that are pretty decent for the UES. Support this place, as there are definitely too few like it left in the country.
MoreIf you are looking for a quaint little eatery this place has the best atmosphere. I just sat down for a couple drinks at the bar and was pleasantly surprised at the friendly bartender, Johnny, with an Irish accent and a tendency to keep my drink full.
MoreVery comfortable atmosphere.
A long time favorite of both my husband and me. Both of us worked in the city and this was our Friday night meet place. Maureen is always there and greets you with a huge hello and a smile. Food is always good. There are always special and even after not being there for a few months it felt like coming home. Try the fried shrimp (my husband's favorite), or the lamb chops (my favorite). If you are lucky enough to be there on a night when they have scallops, definitely try them, you won't be disappointed.
MoreGreat food. Beer was cold. Recommend this place.Tommy D
Started out great. Bread was amazing, the mozzarella sticks were amazing, the salad was fresh and crisp and delicious (could’ve used some croutons and shredded cheddar, but not a big deal). So when my $40 filet came out I was expecting perfection. Little did I know my hopes were about to be shattered and my taste buds disappointed. The steak was bland with no flavor whatsoever. Ordered a refill, it was sitting on the end of the bar for quite a long time (at least 15 minutes) as our waitress walked by it and us multiple times. I asked the waitress to split the check because we were all buying our own food and I received a disgusting look and an attitude with her response. We received our checks and were charged full price for each refill we asked for, you know the one that was on the end of the bar for at least 15 minutes. I would not go back to this restaurant and do not recommend it. It’s not worth the money.
MoreGood pub With both local feel and tourists welcome.Frindly bar.
It's like something out of another time - a really comfortable old pub with really good food. The gray haired gang is there from 6-7pm; then a younger crowd comes in.
MoreRude staff and food rubbish.
A very good sirloin steak and a very good hamburger. The atmosphere is of a bar; a bit tight booths and a bit noisy. It attracts older fox, who seem to really enjoy the place.
MoreExcellent bar food. Nice customers. Friendly staff.
Donoghue's Steak House is definitely not a place I would recommend to my friends or anyone that enjoys good food. I recently had dinner there with my boyfriend and we ordered their beef steak. It was the most dry, flavorless piece of meat we ever tasted. We were very disappointed especially since we spent quite alot for the dish. In fact after we left the steak house we got bought some Halal meat at a food truck to compare and to our surprise the halal meat was way better!
MoreTimeless, tasteful, and classic. A NYC mainstay and landmark. Must see!
From an era where steak and martinis were the diet of choice. Iconic old school comfort food.
MoreThe turkey they serve is precooked and has no skin on it and no flavor ... stuffing is flavorless as well... not a hint of onion, celery, rosemary, thyme, etc. How hard is it to make tasty stuffing... Also, it is mushy. Gravy is from a can. Don't know how Irish owners could not make a respectable turkey entree. Pork chops are excellent. Bar area is very small... maybe ten stools.
MoreGreat diner in central New York. Serving authentic American food. Only let down was the bill, service included and then they asked for a tip on top.....
MoreGood service and food was just fine!!! The pork chops are huge and so the sirloin steak!!
MoreIve been coming here for more than 30 years. There arent many left. A true Old New York neighborhood Irish Steak house, still reasonably priced, and the kitchen is whizz-o. Great bar too.
MoreWhat a great experience. After walking by and researching the place, finally went for my birthday with family. I was pleasantly treated to quality food, efficient wait staff and an ambiance long forgotten in today's NY. I can't wait to go back here to explore the rest of the menu. Thanks for keeping it old school, Donohue's!
MoreGreat meal..great service..very hospitable.. definite return visit..enjoy
Nice local eatery with exceptional service and prices that won't break the bank, considering it's NYC
MoreSolid food and an *excellent* dry martini
This is meant to be a staple of Irish cuisine on the upper east side. It was good, but nothing to rave about.
MoreGreat salads, steaks, and burgers. This place is a classic.
